Lexus Improved Transmission

Recently Toyota has realized that their transmissions are slacking compared to the competition. German automakers and Ford have made a vast improvement to boost power, while keeping engine displacement smaller and efficient. While Toyota is throwing its hat in the ring, Lexus recently released the “NX 2.0T” for a two liter turbo. Many buyers of turbocharged engines do so for the performance, not the increased fuel efficiency.
Toyota, which owns Lexus, uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for a lot of its production vehicles. CVTs are transmissions that can change seamlessly through an infinite number of gear rations, from maximum and minimum variables. This is in contrast to other standard transmissions that offer a fixed number of gear ratios. CVTs can provide better fuel economy than other transmissions by allowing the engine to run at its most efficient RPM range of speed. The transmission can also maximize the performance of a vehicle by allowing the engine to turn at the RPM at which it produces the most power. CVTs do no demand a clutch, although sometimes on motorcycles they are used.
Lexus commonly uses CVTs and sometimes it is not hard to find a place that is capable of repairing these transmissions. European Exchange Inc. has years of NJ Lexus transmission repair experience and training. Their main goal is to ensure that your car is returned to you in a timely manner.

The Finalists for Green Car of the Year May Surprise You

The high-profile “Green Car of the Year” contest is nearly finished for the year 2013, and some of the top performers are sure to raise an eyebrow to the average person. When you think about “green” cars, names like the Honda Accord and Ford Fusion always seem to take up the spotlight. For 2013, however, the honors go to some surprising choices.

The top five finalists for “green car of the year” are as follows:

  • Audi A6 TDI
  • BWM 328d
  • Honda Accord
  • Mazda3
  • Toyota Corolla

To see cars from Audi and BWM top this list is big news for the luxury brands moving forward. What the “Green Car of the Year” award takes into consideration is emission levels, fuel economy, advanced technology and alternative fuel source use. The goal of this award is to promote the progress of the automotive industry as it moves towards environmental awareness and smaller carbon footprints.

As you can see, there is no reason to compromise luxury for environmental friendliness, and the automotive industries’ top brands are finding ways to still deliver what they are known for as well as surprise with innovative upgrades. From the transmission installation to the finishing touches, these luxury cars are intended for smooth rides and small environmental impact.

Transmission Repairs North NJ

In order to lower prices on hybrid cars, Honda’s new Accord Hybrid is not going to have a transmission. Instead, the gas will be used to spin a generator and power a battery. This can allow the car to get up to 50 miles per gallon. This is nearly double the productivity that this past year’s model produces.

For cars that are not the upcoming Honda Accord Hybrid, the transmission is a pretty important part of your vehicle. If you own an exotic car, European Exchange Inc is a professional company that has been specializing in transmissions for fine imported automobiles since 1976. We provide transmission repairs in North NJ. Throughout that time, our expert mechanics have come across every type of transmission out there.

Our large and spacious facility always has over 2500 transmission cores on hand so that we do not have to spend time ordering. We also are trained diagnostics experts. Many different sensors can prevent a transmission from correctly functioning. We make sure that we make the correct diagnosis so that we are making the correct repairs.

If you would like more information on North NJ transmission repairs, contact European Exchange Inc.

Is BMW Doing Away With Manual Transmissions?

Since the first cars, manual transmissions have been preferred by motorists for the style of driving, the way it makes a luxury car feel as well as the way the cars ride. According to an article by CarAdvice.com, BMW is doing away with manual gearboxes and making automatic transmissions standard in all classes of sedan, SUV and specialized car.

According to the recent report, the shift to automatic BMW transmissions has been going on for quite some time as Europe is moving towards the uptake of automatic transmission. 98.5 percent of all the BMW cars sold in Australia alone have come with automatic transmissions, largely because of the benefits of the newly updated transmission models. Lower fuel transmissions, faster shifting times and a much smoother ride. Experts at BMW believe that manual gearboxes have reached a point where they will actually hinder the performance of the car along with greatly damaging the fuel economy. International BMW manual sales have decreased to 1 out of every 4 cars sold. Strangely, in North America the market demand had BMW put a six-speed gear manual transmission in the same model of car that has seen much decline in manual transmissions abroad.

Do you believe that BMW should do away with manual transmission?

The experts at European Exchange perform state-of-the-art BMW transmission repair on any model or year, and have specialized knowledge about these amazing cars. For more information, contact us today.

Subaru Wins Motor Trend's SUV of The Year Award

The Subaru Forester was recently named Motor Trend's SUV of the Year. Motor Trend said, “The Forester combines the practicality of a small, wisely engineered SUV with the fun enthusiasts will enjoy.” When asked about the SUV's off-road capabilities, they noted, “[It has] plenty for the majority of sport utility buyers.”
Subaru of America was established in 1968 in Philadelphia, PA. Since then they have solidified their presence in the American automotive industry. Their headquarters is located in Lafayette, Indiana and they have achieved a zero-landfill production designation (the first automotive assembly plant in the US to earn this designation). Their HQ has also been designated a “backyard wildlife habitat” by the National Wildlife Federation.
Subaru is known for their off-road capabilities and the reliability of their autos. Often Subaru owners hold on to their cars for years, sometimes requiring repair. These repairs need to be done with the care and understanding that went into the production of Subaru.
European Exchange has the experience and knowledge to handle any Subaru transmission repair in NJ that may arise. We provide the service you need in order to get your Subaru back on the road, or off. How to Prepare Your Car For Winter

A lot of people do not realize that you need to prepare your vehicle for the cold winter months much in the same way that you need to prepare your home. The ice and snow affect the way that your car performs. It is also a good idea to have everything working properly so you do not break down and get stuck on the side of the road in the freezing cold. European Exchange Inc specializes in transmission repair services in NJ as well as many other types of repair and maintenance services. Here are some things that you can do to prepare your vehicle's tires for the winter ahead.

Check your tires. Your tires are going to be the main factor keeping you on the road during slippery conditions. If you live in an area that gets heavy snowfall, install snow tires to all four of your vehicle’s wheels.

Check the tread to make sure that everything is worn evenly. Any tire with less than 3/32 inches should be replaced. Air pressure should also be checked. The cold weather can cause you to lose inflation. Check your owner’s manual for the correct amount of pressure for your car.
