Clutch Replacement in New Jersey

Useful Tips for Clutch Replacement
Replacing a clutch is perhaps one of the most difficult tasks for a layman to perform. Only specialized people with sound technical knowledge and experience must carry out the task. Moreover, the process involves the application of ‘customized tools,’ which are usually not available with the owner/driver of the vehicle, hence further delaying the replacement.
Clutch Replacement in New Jersey
Naturally, a common concern is whether or not a local repair shop has the skill or specific tools to repair the clutch for the car of a specific make or model. At European Exchange, we can assure you that because we have been in business for almost forty years, we are equipped for clutch replacement in New Jersey as well as repair for a wide array of makes and models. Whether it’s a family car or a luxury vehicle we can handle it and for a fair price.

Although replacing the clutch is a lengthy process, things can be sped up by following some useful tips that would not only take care of the clutch but also the parts surrounding it. For maintenance of the clutch we recommend the following:

1. Going thoroughly through the Clutch Kit manual
First things first, prior to starting any new process, the wisest thing that one can do is to go through all the manual instructions slowly and patiently. Always remember that half or incomplete knowledge is ‘catastrophic.’

2. Parking the vehicle
Always make sure to park your vehicle on a solid level surface with the parking brakes on. Additionally, don’t forget to disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Lubrication is a must!
Apply a light coat of oil to the pilot tip of the input shaft, as well as to the collar where the release bearing starts. You must also apply a coat of grease to prevent the formation of rust. However, care must be taken here as the grease, if not applied properly, tends to smear the clutch disk and the flywheel.

4. Collecting Tools
A hand winch can prove to be very useful while rolling the cross-member away from the engine on a floor jack. In addition, you must keep socket extensions of varying length ready beforehand.

5. Resurfacing the Flywheel
Even if the flywheel looks in an ok-good-to-go-position, consider resurfacing it so as to prevent the removal of transmission due to the chattering clutch. Although this step might burn a deep hole in your pocket, it will undoubtedly help you in the long run.

6. Replacing the Bearing & Bushings
You can easily remove the pilot bearing with the help of a puller. However, if you do not have this tool, then you would have to read some service manual books to deal with it. This step might prove to be a tiring task.

The aforementioned steps would definitely feel somewhat tough to a novice. But if one wouldn’t start experimenting, one wouldn’t learn new things!

The Clutch is perhaps one of the parts in a vehicle that cannot be overlooked for a long time. If overlooked, the ‘drive’ may prove to be fatal not only for its passengers but also for the pedestrians and other vehicles on the road.

But when worst comes to worst, unfortunately clutch replacement will be necessary. If you have questions or concerns about clutch replacement in New Jersey, please call us at European Exchange at (201) 880-6633 and we will be happy to help you.
