Common Transmission Problems in NJ

The transmission is what keeps your car alive. It’s always best to stay on top of it and make sure the transmission is at its best all the time. Here are some common transmission problems in NJ to look out for.

Low Fluids and Leaks:
By far one of the most common transmission problems are low fluid. Low fluid levels in your transmission can be from leaks. When the fluids start to leak you will see the puddle form under your car or watch the trail develop as you drive. Seals in your transmission can became faulty due to low fluids and the shifting of gears can slow down. If this happens it could be that the fluid is old or contaminated. You should get the fluid refilled or flushed out completely and replaced.

Solenoid Problems:
The solenoid in the transmission can have problems from time to time. The solenoid controls the flow of fluids throughout your transmission. Low fluids can cause damage to the solenoid or other common problems to your transmission in NJ. If the vehicle’s transmission is often slipping yet there is no leaks the solenoid is the thing to check next.

Jammed Clutch:
One other thing that can be damaged due to low fluid levels and flow is the clutch. When you switch gears and press the clutch it can get stuck. A jammed clutch will cause it to not switch gears and shake violently under the car.
